Gesbisa was awarded the tender for the conservation and operation of the AP-8 toll-road section between El Gallo/Urgoiti on the outskirts of Bilbao and the nearby town of Ermua. The duration of this award is from 2021 to 2026.
The AP-8 has six interchanges connecting it with the road grid, as well as one independent entrance and one exit in each direction.
The road runs through the Zaldibar tunnel, with parallel outbound and inbound passages approximately 600 metres long. It has 52 trunk-road structures and 12 overpasses in service (flyovers to Brits!), as well as several pontoons and brickwork elements.
Drivers can relieve their fatigue by stopping at the Amorebieta Services for something to eat, or taking a break at the Rest-stop at Iurreta.
