AP-15 Audenasa

Motorway AP-15. Tudela – Irurzun

The 112.6 kilometre-long Navarra toll road links the Ebro toll road to the toll roads of northern Spain via the Leizarán (San Sebastián) toll road and the La Barranca (Vitoria) motorway. Drivers from as far away as Aragon, Catalonia and Levant are thus connected from Zaragoza to Guipúzcoa and Alava, as well as the rest of the Basque Country, the Bay of Biscay region and France.

The toll road boasts several singular features, not least of which is the Sancho el Mayor Bridge over the River Ebro.

The main span of the bridge measures 146 m and is constructed from 3.2 metre-long prefabricated sections. It is supported in the centre by 35 pairs of twin cables, each attached to their corresponding sections to form the deck. The cables run up to a tower that rises 60 m above the deck, its foundations embedded 40 metres beneath the surface. It is suspended by two sets of stays, whose counterweights are made from 2,400 m3 of prestressed concrete.
